About Build A Niche Store

We started our internet marketing venture back in 2004.

Niche sites were our way in to making a living on the internet and our way out of unfulfilling 9-5 jobs.

All through 2004 and 2005 we built niche sites - some we sold on for short term cash and some we've kept to this day.

This early development was labor intensive and monotonous - we were "hard coding" our niche sites in html using Dreamweaver and were manually adding revenue streams to each page.

Relevant eBay products via the eBay editor kit (an in-house tool provided by the eBay affiliate team) were one of these principal methods of generating income from our growing network of sites.

The work was so tedious and the time investment to reward ratio was so bad that we reached a point where we had to stop and think through how we were doing things and how it could be done better.

With eBay's addition of their RSS feed as a new affiliate tool in 2006 a new door opened and with a php book bought from a local bookstore we set about creating what would become the very first version of Build A Niche Store - a way of bringing relevant eBay products into niche content sites at a few clicks of the mouse button.

It helped us immensely with our own sites and we opened it up to the public on October 18th 2006 in a marketplace thread in the Digital Point webmaster forum.

It was absurdly basic at the time consisting of just a one page setup file and a few page installation manual.

v1 Setup Page

It did, however, work - and through forum threads and blog posts quickly became one of the most popular affiliate marketing tools on the web.

Fast forward 3 years and Build A Niche Store has been through 4 major version upgrades evolving from the one page setup file it was in 2006 to the comprehensive content management system it is today:

Built according to the principles of simplicity and intuitiveness it remains the easiest way in to building profitable niche sites for those new to the niche site business model and a quick and efficient site development tool for the more experienced webmaster and internet marketer.
